My favourite ski resort so far.
Absolutely huge with skiing to suit all tastes. From easy glacer skiing to tree lined black runs to more off-piste than you can point a stick at. We were still making first tracks on the last day of our trip - 7 days after the last snow. Having said that, it was more tracked out than when I went three years ago so the powder hounds are catching on.

We stayed in Aime La Plagne, a monument to hideous French architecture. It was convenient for the snow though with a piste outside our door. Nightlife is limited but if you are looking for great nightlife forget ski resorts and stay in London! The olympic bobsleigh is a laugh.

If you want to make use of the whole Paradiski area you should probably consider staying in Belle Plagne, Montchavin or Les Coches as the rest of La plagne is a fair distance from the Vanoise Express cablecar. In my week in La Plagne this year, I had so much skiing to explore that by day two it was clear I wouldn't need to go near the link to Les Arcs.

Oxygene ski school were loved by the members of my party that used them. Private lessons seemed reasonable and group lessons have a maximum number of 10 students for each instructor.

Steer clear of Le Vega restaurant on the front in Plagne Centre - stroppy over-rushed service and boring food. Le Croque Niege was much friendlier and even had a whipround of their staff for paracetamol for one of my group when she banged her head on the piste and couldn't find a chemist open.

We had a fantastic time in La Plagne. This was our first family ski trip so we were in ski school all week- oxygene - they were fabulous! Only problem was with the accomodation - self catering in Plagne Soleil ( thru Airtours) who decided to help themselves to our deposit as we had checked out at 3.00am! We tried without success to get it refunded..so try and get your apt signed off before you leave to avoid daylight robbery! Food and restaurants were v expensive and not much choice. PS the place isn't that ugly! and we will be back there in three weeks time!!
