beginners
*****
reliable snow, specially designed beginners areas and an english speaking ski school make Geilo a good choice for your first winter holiday. many runs wide and uncrowded, creating the perfect atmosphere for developing confidence.
intermediates
***
with an efficient lift system, queuing is almost unheard of across the two ski areas (north and south facing). the vestlia area offers all grades of pistes. the run behind the village has wide open runs and a variety of runs back to the village through the trees.
advanced
**
seven black runs, including a couple of mogul fields. this resort is not for the aggressive expert skier. day trips available to nearby Hemsedal where there is a good choice of black runs.
snowboarding
***
specially designed terrain, including two snowboard parks and halfpipes. there is a 100m pipe. here you'll find hits, spines, rail, kickers and quarterpipe. the pipe is open til 10pm. a good choice for beginners and those more advanced.
